Matchbook Wine Company is a family-owned operation in the Dunnigan Hills of Zamora, CA, producing and bottling quality wines on-site under such labels as: Matchbook, Pillars of Hercules, The Arsonist, Mossback, and Chasing Venus. Thirty minutes from Davis, the winery is located in the midst of 1,300 acres of estate vineyards, comprised of Chardonnay, Tempranillo, Syrah, and several other varietals. We expect to crush about 2700 tons in 2017 (approximately 30% white, 70% red). The majority of our grapes come from our estate vineyards, but we also source fruit from the Russian River Valley and Chalk Hill.

Job Title: Wine Club & Direct to Consumer Manager

This position provides leadership and management to the Hospitality department of Matchbook Wine Company. This position is responsible for managing and growing our Wine Club, implementing wine club strategy, working closely with the Hospitality team for wine club and tasting room events, implementing wine club marketing and sales strategies, and providing gracious hospitality to club members. The Wine Club Manager ensures the accuracy of reporting, performs analysis of wine club programs and ensures accurate quarterly and monthly shipments.

This position also performs a wide variety of direct-to-consumer duties as well which include management of our Matchbook Wines webstore, on site inventory and customer service related to shipping orders.  Lastly, this position also works in the tasting room in a key holder capacity assisting with running shifts and event days.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Should possess exceptional customer service skills and have a passion for exceeding customer needs and expectations.
  • Should be able to collaborate in a team environment and have enthusiasm for developing relationships, growing sales and discussing wine.
  • Oversee inventory logistics for all club releases and assist in the processing of club order batches.
  • Assist in preparation, planning and execution of all wine club events.
  • Responsible for daily wine club and customer service support via telephone and/or email.
  • Accurately create, update, and maintain customer accounts in our VinSuite database, including maintaining our webstore and product inventory.
  • Maintain knowledge of all wine club offerings, benefits and schedules, brand and wine information, marketing offers and hospitality options.
  • Perform outreach to customers via phone and email for updated account information and order management.
  • Assist with shipment logistics which includes but is not limited to; packing orders, handling returned orders, proper communication regarding shipping of orders to customers and maintaining inventory for orders.
  • Should be able to maintain on-site warehouse inventory and organization which includes but is not limited to; inventory transfer requests, physical inventory counts, management of warehouse cleaning, and proper organization of all products housed in the on-site warehouse.

Additional Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of customer service experience in a wine, retail, or hospitality job.
  • Detail oriented, well organized, and efficient in mastering and completing tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to see projects and issues to a timely resolution.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook. Experience with VinSuite a plus.
  • Able to work weekend days and/or nights and holidays.
  • Able to always present a professional and positive manner & good humor.
  • Should be able to sit and stand for several consecutive hours.
  • Should be able to lift 50 lbs.

Job Title: Accounts Payable Specialist

Local family-owned wine Company is seeking an energetic, highly motivated and organized individual to join the accounting department as an Accounts Payable Specialist.  Position is fast paced with a high volume of invoices.

Position is required to work in the office located in Zamora, CA.

Job Duties include:

  • Review, code and enter invoices on a daily basis
  • Download invoices from vendor portals on a weekly basis
  • Export and format monthly credit card activity for distribution to cardholders for approval
  • Ensuring all invoices are approved prior to payment
  • Weekly check runs
  • Reconciliation of vendor statements
  • Assist with Monthly Close process
  • Annual 1099 Filing

Job Title: Part-Time Tasting Room Associate

The Tasting Room Associate will work weekends, holidays and assist with events as directed by the Tasting Room Manager. The position requires a self-motivated individual who thrives in a fun and fast-paced environment. Passion for and knowledge of wine is a plus.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Able to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed
  • Ensure a positive experience for our guests with exceptional customer service
  • Selling wine and merchandise using a computer-based cash register
  • Package and ship wine orders
  • Pour wine for customers
  • Restock merchandise
  • Responsible service of alcohol which includes checking guest identification
  • Pour wine at “off-site winery” events as needed
  • Build relationships with guests to increase sales and stimulate repeat visits
  • Assist with open/close procedures, including day-to-day maintenance of Tasting Room, e.g. restocking inventory, washing and polishing glasses, cleaning tables, maintaining the general appearance of Tasting Room
  • Handle routine cash register transactions and daily accounting of sales
  • Carry out customer purchases
  • Perform clean-up duties at the end of each shift

Minimum Requirements:

  • Able to stand for long hours while working

Laboratory Technician

We are looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented individual to work in our in-house wine lab to assist in lab work and bottling line quality control. Responsibilities include pulling sample, setting up trials for the winemakers, and running analysis on ageing wine. During harvest, responsibilities will include inoculations, monitoring fermentations, and cellar work. On bottling days, responsibilities include regular quality control checks on the bottling line: labels, corks, capsules, etc. You will work closely with the Laboratory Director and bottling line operators to ensure all points on the bottling line are functioning properly and efficiently.

You must be able to work outdoors for extended periods of time, climb stairs and ladders, lift 50 pounds, and be on your feet for most of the day. Reliable transportation is required.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualities:

Bottling Line Manager

This position will perform all duties related to bottling line operations, changeover, PM and some corrective maintenance.


• Organize all change parts for their particular brand.
• Ensure all change parts are clean and in good working shape.
• Set Bottling Line for proper bottle clearances.
• Understand the function of each piece of the bottling line.
• Understand and adjust all equipment timing points.
• Recognize and resolve improperly adjusted components.
• Make in production adjustments to all equipment as necessary.
• Read and understand equipment manuals and follow documented practices and procedures.
• Set periodic training sessions from suppliers and service technicians.
• Provide thorough descriptions of equipment malfunctions in writing.
• Follow, observe and enforce all safety rules and regulations.
• Understand and follow sanitation procedures of bottling equipment.
• Inspect for adherence to all packaging specifications, including documenting results and performing corrective actions to maintain quality standards.
• Operate forklift in full product case goods and raw materials.


Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds regularly, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to work longer than ten hours per day
• May require split shift, overtime and weekend work.

Essential Skills, Experience, and Education:

• English communication skills, written and verbal.
• Basic mathematical aptitude.
• Two years of bottling line experience required.
• Two years maintenance experience preferred.
• Forklift experience required operating an electric or gas-powered forklift.
• Must possess analytical skills to evaluate raw material defects versus equipment malfunctions.
• Must be able to demonstrate troubleshooting skills on machinery as well as raw materials.
• Must be able to comprehend machine parts manuals.
• Must be able to follow and perform machine lubrication schedules.
• Must be reliable, detail-oriented with good organizational skills.

Bottling Line Associate

Matchbook Wine Company is seeking a hard-working and reliable person to work in a fast-paced environment as a bottling line associate. (Full Time / Seasonal)

Summary of Essential Job Duties:

  • Dump cases of empty glass on bottling line track
  • Inspect and pack finished bottles into cases
  • Stack full cases of wine onto pallets
  • Perform post-bottling steaming and sanitation of the line
  • Performing other “special projects” as assigned by management including rework, Maxpack building, keg labeling, etc.
  • Performing cellar tasks as assigned by management including topping, barrel filling and cleaning, etc.
