MARKET MANAGER – NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
Location: Greater Sacramento Valley, Bay Area and Northern Nevada
About Matchbook Wine Company
At Matchbook Wine Company, we believe great wines start in the vineyard — and ours are proudly estate-grown and family-farmed in the Dunnigan Hills AVA of Northern California. We are an independent, family-owned winery built on hard work, integrity, and a deep respect for the land. Our team is passionate about crafting distinctive wines and sharing them with customers who appreciate authenticity and quality.
About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated, and entrepreneurial Market Manager to represent Matchbook Wine Company across the Greater Sacramento Valley, Bay Area and Northern Nevada.
As the local face of Matchbook, you will strengthen our presence in the market, build meaningful relationships, and drive sales growth across all trade channels — from fine wine shops and on-premise accounts to key retail chains. You will work closely with distributor partners while also making direct, proactive sales calls to develop new opportunities and deepen brand visibility in our home market.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated wine professional who enjoys independence, thrives in the field, and is passionate about sharing Matchbook’s story.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and expand sales volume through regular account visits and relationship development.
- Maintain a strong market presence, with approximately 60% focus on the Greater Sacramento area.
- Collaborate closely with distributor sales representatives and management to grow Matchbook’s account base and case volume.
- Educate and motivate distributor sales teams to achieve sales and distribution goals.
- Communicate key product, pricing, and marketing information to distributor partners.
- Conduct sales meetings and training sessions with distributor personnel.
- Represent Matchbook Wine Company at trade shows, consumer tastings, and promotional events.
- Monitor competitive activity, market trends, and account performance.
- Provide timely market feedback and weekly reporting to the Division Manager – West.
Qualifications
- Proven self-starter with excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Must reside in the Greater Sacramento area with a strong understanding of the local wine market and key accounts.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Comprehensive knowledge of wine, the wine industry, and the food & beverage trade.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent professional experience).
- 3–5 years of wine industry sales experience at the distributor or supplier level (or both).
- Restaurant or retail wine experience a plus.
Why Join Matchbook?
This is more than a sales role — it’s a chance to represent one of California’s most respected family wineries in its own backyard. You’ll join a passionate, tight-knit team that values collaboration, creativity, and the entrepreneurial spirit.
If you’re driven, wine-savvy, and ready to make a difference in a growing company, we’d love to hear from you.
