Started the family farm

1981

Planted first vineyards in Dunnigan Hills

1984

R.H. Phillips was established

1988

Launched Mediterranean varietals for Dunnigan Hills

1995

R.H. Phillips public traded on the Nasdaq

1997

Toasted Head launched in the market

2000

Sold R.H. Phillips to Vincor International

2001

Acquired Hogue Cellars

Topped 1 million cases for the first time

2002

Planted Matchbook Vineyard

2004

First vintages of Matchbook Wines

Tempranillo, Blockhouse Red Blend and Syrah

2005

Left Vincor to start Crew Wine Company

2006

Matchbook and Chasing Venus launched into Market

2007

Created Mossback brand

2008

Build winery in Zamora, California

2011

Purchased neighboring ranch to expand vineyard

2014

Opened Matchbook Tasting Room

2015

The Arsonist Red Blend launched into market

2012 Red Blend is inaugural wine followed by the 2012 Chardonnay. Both wines earn 90 pts from Wine Enthusiast. Pen & Ink illustration by Elvis Swift.

2016

Black's Station Brand is launched

2014 Red Blend is inaugural wine launched followed by 2014 Malbec, 2015 Chardonnay and 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon.

2017

Pat Kane joined Matchbook Wine Company in March 2017 as President and CEO

2017

10 Years of Crushin’ It – Harvest 2017 Kicks Off

The 10th year of Matchbook Harvest is kicked off in August 2017.

2017

Tinto Rey Brand is launched

Spanish-centric wine brand - 2015 Tempranillo is first varietal under new brand name, followed by 2016 Rosé, 2014 Super Tinto Red Blend and 2014 Verdejo.

2018

Black's Station Package Redesign

Artist Steven Noble illustrates the horseman in a woodcut style for a fresh redesign.

2018

Matchbook Package Redesign

A diagonal wrap design gives the brand an updated style.

2019

Mossback Package Redesign

Canes from the vineyard illustrated in a woodcut style by artist Steven Noble adds elegance to the new Mossback package.

2019

Matchbook Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot

New varietal wines added to the Matchbook brand line-up.

2021

Pillars of Hercules launched

The 2019 Red Blend is released.

2022

The Herdsman launched

The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon is released.
