Matchbook Wine Company is a family-owned winery tucked away in Northern California’s gently rolling Dunnigan Hills. Located just 30 minutes north of Sacramento and Davis, Matchbook is a local Yolo County destination for wine lovers looking to discover quality estate-grown varietals.
“We enjoyed our tasting on Saturday afternoon so much! A short drive up I-5, super friendly and knowledgeable staff and wines to rival any Napa Valley offerings. And super bonus – no traffic or crowds. The Dunnigan Hills are gorgeous this year. The next time we visit we’ll pack a picnic basket and stay for sunset!”

“Who would have thought you could have a mini get away wine trip in the middle of Zamora, CA? We had such a lovely experience at this beautiful winery. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the wines and the winery itself. I don’t think there was a wine we didn’t like, which is pretty rare. The tasting room and patio provide an upscale but laid back atmosphere. One nice feature was the misting system on the patio… So don’t let the heat stop you from visiting! We all would love to go back and throw a dinner party here. It was only a 35-40 minute trip north of Sacramento. Very easy to get to. I can’t wait to go back!”

“Need a Napa valley experience without the drive and crowd? Come to Matchbook! Take a 20 minute drive from Davis to visit this adorable winery with beautiful tasting room. It’s floor to ceiling windows showcasing their selection … Outdoor seating overlooks their vineyard and would make a great spot for a small to medium event.

“Rolling hills, fields of grapes and olives, all paired with great wine in a tucked away corner just north of Sacramento.
I really enjoyed and would highly recommend this winery. I came with a small group to a Friday night open event at the winery. They were selling bottles and tasting menus. We took to the patio and listened to the live band play blues covers. Great time. The facility is nice, clean and is elevated above the grape vines. So as you sit you can watch the sun set over the rolling hills. Something definitely unique and not expected!!! Loved the experience. Not something I would get in Napa for sure.
I’m not a wine expert but I really enjoy their tasters. I did walk away with a great red and look forward to it. They also had two food trucks for plenty of food. I think they did a really good job with the event and hope to go back again later in the year.
Conclusion: looking for more than just a tasting menu? This place has live music and food trucks. A true event worth the drive.”

“What a great winery! Dog friendly! Came on a cloudy Sunday aftenoon and enjoyed a tasting and bottle of wine on the patio. The view is pretty and service was exactly what we needed. Left with 3 bottles of wine and their olive oil! I’ll come again
for sure!”

“An inspirational winery! Matchbook is quality focused and the wines show the great care and love that they put into the land, the vines, their employees and most of all, their wines. The most common comment I heard on the incredible tour was that everyone loved ALL of the tastings. The wisest comment was from Greg who said that the best wine is the one in your glass! Come for the superb wine; stay for the views!”
