90-Point Matchbook Wines

by: Senica Gonzalez

2012 Arsonist Chardonnay and 2010 Tinto Rey pull coveted 90-point reviews from Robert Parker

It’s been a good year for the Matchbook family. A very good year. The kind of year in which our wines land among California’s Best Values in The Wine Advocate, and Robert Parker comments on head winemaker Dan Cederquist for his “Midas touch for turning out high-quality wines at realistic prices.” Take a look at what the tastemakers have to say about two of our favorite wines:

Matchbook 2012 The Arsonist Chardonnay
90 points – The Wine Advocate

Arsonist 90 Robert Parker

“One of the super-values in the marketplace. There are only 1,700 cases of this beauty. Copious notes of crisp honeysuckle, pineapple, white peach and cartelized pears are followed by a medium-bodied, surprisingly rich, concentrated, pure wine with zesty acids buttressing its intensity.”
-Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

Matchbook 2010 Tinto Rey
90 points – The Wine Advocate, 89 points – Wine Enthusiast

“This winery hit a bull’s eye with their 2010 Tinto Rey (…), a proprietary red blend of 49% Tempranillo, 27% Syrah, 15% Graciano, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Tannat. This seriously endowed red spent 26 months in a combination of American, French and Hungarian oak. A beauty, it exhibits notes of new saddle leather, unsmoked cigar tobacco, licorice, black cherries and blackcurrants as well as a medium-bodied, lusciously fruity, sensual, opulent personality. This medium to full-bodied, gorgeous wine should drink well for several years.”
-Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
