Chasing Venus on SeattlePi

by: Lane Giguiere

Wine writer Stan Reitan gives 2011 Chasing Venus Sauvignon Blanc 90 points in SeattlePi:

2011 Chasing Venus Sauvignon Blanc … Marlborough, New Zealand

Light grapefruit notes with hits of cut grass and gooseberries. Honeydew melon and grapefruit notes hit you up front with gooseberry showing up on the mid-palate through a long finish with light notes of  grapefruit on the backside. I like this one because it is not too heavy on the grapefruit. Good balance and racy acidity.  90 points

Chasing Venus in Marie Claire

by: Lane Giguiere

Marie Claire features Chasing Venus Sauvignon Blanc in a fun wine pairing twist for Valentine’s Day: what to serve for each stage of a relationship:

It’s Complicated: Sometimes things just don’t go so smoothly. He doesn’t totally get you, you don’t totally get him, but you’re both still into it. Hey, the chase can be fun, so drink down some Chasing Venus Sauvignon Blanc ($16). It’s from Marlborough, New Zealand, where the Sauvignon Blancs are full of tangy cantaloupe – the flavor’s very distinctive and some people love it (like me) and some don’t. See if your palletes are compatible, and maybe this will be the deciding factor on your relationship status.

Chasing Venus in Detroit News

by: Lane Giguiere

Our 2011 Chasing Venus Sauvignon Blanc is the Detroit News Today’s Recommended Wine for February 8, 2012!

Today’s recommended wine

Selections are by wine columnist Sandra Silfven, unless otherwise noted.

Chasing Venus, 2011 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc New Zealand, $16

“Chasing Venus is made in that pungent, rich, tart-dry gooseberry, grapefruit, herbal style so typical of Marlborough. It’s got body, a slam of flavor and great acidity for backbone. It’s so Marlborough in style, meaning full-bodied and flavorful. What a beguiling match with Michigan whitefish or pickerel, or Gulf shrimp. It’s by Crew Wine Co., run by the Giguiere family and imported by them. The Giguieres? Think John and Lane, and Toasted Head wines from California — and Dunnigan Hills in California.”
