Have you heard the Bay Area Buzz about Yolo County?

by: Aileen Niizawa Morris

Matchbook Wine was featured in Bay Area Buzz

“Yolo County is synonymous with UC Davis, my alma mater. However, much to my surprise, there is much more to Yolo than expected. Just over the mountain range from Napa Valley, it is an up and coming wine region; you can find a fine bottle of wine for very reasonable prices. Yolo also has strong roots in agriculture, which explains why farm-to-table food is becoming more and more prevalent here.

Matchbook Wines boasts a relaxing patio and vast vineyard views. This is the place to visit if you have a couple of hours to spare and just soak it all in. The winery is family owned and all of the grapes used are estate grown. Our favorite wine here was The Arsonist red blend. Make sure to have a taste when you visit! Check their website for some fun summer events too.”

The Arsonist Red in Alaska

by: Senica Gonzalez

mcvittieAnother great review from Mike McVittie up in Alaska! In full:

Some people just have to go against the grain. You know who you are. Like, people who have no turkey on Thanksgiving, for example. Well, if you’re one of those, I have a spectacular red blend that’s right up your alley. Called the Arsonist, it’s super dark, thick and sappy, with just a touch of herb and black pepper. The secret here is the Arsonist’s 52 percent Petit Verdot content, a massively bold red that in conjunction with equal amounts of Cabernet and Merlot makes a sinfully rich Cabernet-style wine.
