Your Valentine’s roses are wilting and your box of chocolates is empty … but don’t fret, there’s still so much LOVE in the air as February comes to a close. This story comes from Matchbook Tasting Room customer and Yelp (Davis) Community Leader, Hannah Dillman. We’ve already established the fact that Matchbook loves Yelpers and vice versa, what we didn’t anticipate was this beautiful and thoughtful review written by Hannah recounting her love for Matchbook.
Hannah’s Yelp Review:
“I’ve been putting off writing this review for nearly a year because I have so many amazing things to say about Matchbook that I haven’t been sure how I would even get it all out there. However, the time has come that I sing Matchbook praises as loudly as possible, and for as many people as possible.
Put most simply, Matchbook is heaven on earth. It’s an oasis away from a busy life, a breath of fresh air on a hectic day. Matchbook is nestled away in the foothills as if to act as a hidden gem from the rest of the world. I would have never found out about Matchbook had it not been for a Yelp Event. That Yelp Event, quite literally, changed my life.
The first time I went to Matchbook it was a Wintery day and though the tasting room was empty, and I was just there for a meeting, I was immediately aware of the warmth that radiated from their staff and the coziness of their both indoor and outdoor areas. Eventually, I came back for the actual Yelp Event … and it was raining. But even on a rainy day, the natural beauty of the setting that surrounds the Matchbook tasting room shined through.
I was finally able to come back and bring my boyfriend in tow to Matchbook during an evening with perfect weather. It was everything I had witnessed previously, and even more. So far, though, I’ve only mentioned the beauty of the tasting room views, and the wonderful Matchbook staff. However, if those two things weren’t enough, their wine. is. divine. My father-in-law has been a part of probably ten wine clubs over the last several decades and even he boasts about the $20 Tempranillo that Matchbook produces. That’s right, if I hadn’t convinced you with the amazing views, the wonderful staff, and the delicious wines, the prices are AMAZING. I never knew I was a red wine fan until I started drinking Matchbook wine.
Matchbook so, so quickly became a favorite date night spot for us as they stay open later on the weekends during the summer months. Whether we were bringing our own picnic or enjoying one of the many food trucks that visits, it is always a treat to spend an evening or afternoon with Matchbook. In fact, we spent so much time at Matchbook and fell so deeply in love with the location itself, that when the time came… that’s where my fiancé proposed. When I said that Matchbook changed my life, it wasn’t because the wine is divine, or the staff is some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Matchbook quite literally became the backdrop of the beginning of my very own love story. And with its rolling green hills, and vineyards that extend as far as the eye can see, I can’t imagine a more perfect setting.”
