Wine of the Month – 2016 Matchbook Chardonnay!

by: Virginia Valdez Sandfer

Joey Casco aka “The Wine Stalker” named the 2016 Matchbook Chardonnay his Wine of the Month for May 2018!

We love Joey’s straight-forward and knowledgeable wine reviews.  Following is an excerpt from his review of the Matchbook 2016 “Old Head” Chardonnay.

“The color of the wine is a straw yellow. The first thing I get on the nose is toasty oak, followed by Bullseye caramel candy, melons, and pears. In the mouth it’s true to form with a fuller body than most Chardonnays in its price range, but it also has a brighter acidity than previous vintages and it’s even added a touch of sweetness. There’s flavors of pineapple, lemon custard, sweetened pear juice, and vanilla. Then it finishes with lemon custard and vanilla.

Still rockin’ it, still a great deal, still a recommendation. Love it!

Please Join us to Support our California Wine Family impacted by the Wild Fires

by: Virginia Valdez Sandfer

The wine community is a large  family. We are devastated to see the wild fires in Northern California continue to destroy more and more acres.

The battle with the fire and the recovery are far from over. We need to band together as a wine community family to help those in need. Please join us in donating to your favorite fire relief fund or click here for a Wine Enthusiast article that contains ideas on how to help our Northern California neighbors in need.  Or simply #helpcalibuycali and as you select a wine to drink, please choose one from Northern California.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the firefighters, first responders and all those who have lost so much in these unprecedented fires.
