Cleaning up at SF Chronicle Wine Competition

The results of this year’s San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition are in, and we’re happy to report that Matchbook cleaned house. Out of the 15 wines entered into the competition, we walked away with 12 medals… including three Gold Medals and a Best of Class awarded to the Matchbook 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon.

Not too shabby.

Roll out the Barrels

After three months of rolling, rolling and more rolling, we’ve finally separated our barrel-fermented Cabernet from its skins!

Not many wineries practice this method with their reds. It takes a lot of man-hours (early on, we have to roll the barrels three times a day), and it’s just tough work. But what can we say? It’s worth it to us. Stay tuned to see what we end up doing with this wine down the road. For now, check out the photos from yesterday’s work:
