Hayley Hamilton Cogill wrote this fantastic review
on our 2014 Chasing Venus Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc today in her Dallas Magazine article on traditional white wines:
Celebrating a very New World style, with zesty, zippy lemon-line, grapefruit and gooseberry notes, Chasing Venus Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is juicy, fruit forward and ripe. A great thirst quenching patio wine on a hot day. $16, widely available throughout Dallas.
Great to see our Sauv Blanc is making the rounds and cooling folks down out there in Dallas!
Robert Parker has reviewed Matchbook’s The Arsonist wines! His write-ups in full:
Matchbook 2012 The Arsonist Red Blend — 89 points
A real sleeper of the vintage and big-time winner is Matchbook’s 2012 Proprietary Red The Arsonist, a blend of 52% Petit Verdot, 24% Merlot and 24% Cabernet Sauvignon. Matured 28 months in a combination of French and Hungarian oak, the wine’s deep ruby/purple color and sweet nose of licorice, black currants and blueberry are followed by forest floor notes, good silky tannins, surprising density and a medium-bodied finish. Drink it over the next several years.
Matchbook 2013 The Arsonist Chardonnay — 88 points
Even better is the 2013 Chardonnay The Arsonist. This offers honeyed citrus, a touch of lemon blossom, white peach and floral notes in a medium-bodied, nicely textured, lovely, ripe, very clean, pure, well-balanced wine. Drink it over the next 12-18 months.
As for the red wines, Matchbook does a good job with the Spanish varietals.
Very encouraging words from The Man himself!
